General

How does Smiles Delivered work?

Simply book online with the service you want (whitening, cleaning, etc.), choose an appointment time and a location that works best for you (your home, office or hotel). We will assign a licensed and background verified Dentist and Dental Assistant to you. You will be notified ahead of time who will be taking care of you to ensure your safety. A credit card must be provided in order to reserve the appointment time (refundable  – see Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy). Our dental team will travel to your desired location at the time of your appointment and provide the services you chose. After the appointment and treatment is completed, Smiles Delivered will charge the fees on the credit card provided. You will receive an email notification with the receipt when the payment is processed.

Who can use Smiles Delivered?

Anyone! We provide care for individuals, families, or business employees. Major discounts available for families or business employees. We also do “Dental Day” where we set up our portable unit in your office, and employees in the office sign up for a time slot. Employees can enjoy discounts of up to 70%! How does Smiles Delivered provide care outside of a dental office?

We carry all portable equipment in a travel suitcase and a portable patient reclining chair. Only a 10’x10′  area and power outlet is needed. Set up takes only 10 minutes.

How do you sterilize the instruments?

We store our portable equipment and instruments in the main office headquarters on Central Park S. Instruments are sterilized daily and prepared for the following day so that we use sterile instrument packs for each patient. All other one-time use materials are disposed.

What can I expect at my first visit?

Your initial Smiles Delivered appointment must include a comprehensive exam, per New York State Board of Dentistry regulations, and x-rays (unless you can provide us with a set of diagnostic x-rays dated within 1 year — you may email your x-rays here prior to the appointment). The dentist will review your medical and dental history, examine your teeth and gums, and screen for oral cancer. A treatment plan is completed with a minimally invasive approach and finally a cleaning and/or whitening will then be performed.

How long will my visit be?

A typical initial visit for a check-up and cleaning will take about 1 hour (longer if x-rays are taken). Teeth whitening will take about 1.5 hours. Please also allow extra time for setting up and breaking down the equipment.

Where do I lay/sit for my appointment?

We will bring a portable patient chair with us OR you may also lay on your own couch for more comfort. We will cover and protect our working space to keep your space sterile. Our team will ensure to use CDC approved disinfectant wipes to clean up the working space.

What if I need major dental work?

Our Smiles Delivered dentist will refer you to the best dental office fit for your needs. You may also request to see your own dentist.

What can I expect at my consecutive visits?

You may choose the option to have just a cleaning or whitening, without an exam by the dentist. However, if you need a dental exam and x-rays with a dentist, at an additional cost, you must indicate it when booking the appointment.

Rescheduling & Cancellation

What are your rescheduling and cancellation policies for private clients?

Clients may cancel, with full deposit refund, up to 48 hours before their appointment time. Clients may reschedule, without losing their deposit, up to 24 hours before their appointment time. Cancellations with less than 24 hours advance notice are subject to $100 nonrefundable deposit fee.

In the event that the client is not available or present for their appointment, there will be a $100 no-show fee charged in addition to the deposit fee.

What are your rescheduling and cancellation policies for Dental Day?

Clients must cancel their scheduled appointment at least 12 hours BEFORE their appointment time. Otherwise, a $50 last-minute cancellation fee will be charged.

In the event that the client is not available or present for their appointment, a $50 no-show fee will be charged.

This rule is enforced to allow opportunities to others who may want to book at that specific time.

Service Areas & Costs

What areas do you operate in? Will you be expanding?

We are currently operating in Manhattan and nearby towns. We plan on expanding to Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island and Westchester soon. Please send us an email with your address, and we will let you know if we service in your area.

How do you keep costs affordable and comparable to regular dental office fees?

By reducing our overhead costs (such as office space rent and utility bills), we can provide you with a luxury at-home dental service at a very reasonable fee.

X-Rays

Do you take dental x-rays?

Yes! We bring a portable x-ray unit and a protective lead shield with us. Our digital x-ray technology reduced radiation exposure by more than 90% of traditional x-rays.

Is it mandated to take x-rays? Can I refuse them?

Dental x-rays are a standard diagnostic tool for dentists. They allow dentists to check for caries, infections, abnormalities, bone level, periodontal conditions, sub-gingival calculus buildup, etc. We require x-rays to be taken in order for the dentist to provide you with a full comprehensive exam and the best treatment possible.

You can decline x-rays if you provide us with a copy of your previous x-rays taken within a year. If you choose to refuse x-rays, a refusal form must be signed.

Whitening

How does professional teeth whitening work and how is it different from store-bought whitening products?

Our whitening materials are much stronger and contains higher bleaching concentration, created specifically for professional use. Our trained and experienced hygienist will first polish your teeth to remove any superficial stains and debris. Then they will place a gingival barrier over your gums and recessions to minimize gum irritations and teeth sensitivity. A bleaching solution is placed on your teeth and a UV light is implemented to increase the bleaching action. Three 15-minute sessions will be conducted. The bleaching solution is removed and re-applied between each session. Upon completion, the gingival barrier is removed and post-care instructions are given.

Am I a candidate for teeth whitening?

Most people see great results after professional whitening. Up to 6-8 shades whiter. However, some people may not be great candidates for whitening, our dentist will evaluate your teeth prior to your treatment to determine whether whitening will work for you.

Some contraindications to teeth whitening include, pregnancy or lactation, under 16 years old, and allergies to teeth whitening products.

What are the risks of teeth whitening?

Teeth sensitivity may occur, but varies for each person, and should last no longer than 1-4 days. We recommend you start using Sensodyne toothpaste 1-2 weeks prior to your treatment to minimize sensitivity during and afterwards. You may also take an Acetaminophen (eg. Tylenol), NSAIDs (eg. Motrin, Advil), or naproxen (eg. Aleve) just before your whitening treatment.

How long do the teeth whitening results last?

Results will always fade over time, depending on your diet and habits (coffee, wine, tea, smoking, etc). Whitening usually lasts from 6 months to 2 years. We always recommend a dental cleaning before whitening for the best and longer-lasting results.

Do you also make custom-fit whitening trays for at-home use?

Yes! We will take impressions of your teeth and fabricate an upper and lower whitening trays for you, which you can use at home for maintenance after your professional whitening treatment. Bleaching gel syringes will be provided to you at no additional cost! 🙂

Insurance & Other Services

Does Smiles Delivered accept insurance?

Yes and no. We are an out-of network provider. You will be charged for the services at the time they are performed. However, some insurance companies will allow members to self-claim and file for reimbursement. We may also submit a claim form to your insurance on your behalf so that you will be reimbursed directly for your allowable benefits, at no extra cost to you, as a courtesy. 🙂

What type of dental insurance plans will cover Smiles Delivered’s services?

If you have a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) dental plan, your insurance may be able to cover all or most of the costs for Smiles Delivered’s preventative and diagnostic services (such as routine cleanings, check-ups and x-rays).

What if I have a dental emergency?

Book an appointment online, email us or call us at 917-383-0933 for an emergency house call dentist appointment. Based on the dentist’s availability, we may be able to arrive in less than 24 hours for an emergency exam. Please describe your dental emergency as best as possible so our dentist can arrive with the necessary tools and materials.

What other additional services does Smiles Delivered provide?

In addition to cleaning, x-rays and whitening, we also provide other basic preventative/cosmetic dental services, such as sealants, fluoride treatments, Invisalign®, custom-made night guards, whitening trays, and more. Please email us for any further questions.
